Formal Gas Instrumentation & Regulation Training

Gas Utility

The Situation

The aftermath of a critical safety incident heightened awareness of operational practices at this gas utility. Before the incident, learning was heavily dependent on on-the-job training performed ad-hoc by peers and supervisors in the field. To minimize safety risks to the public and employees, Mosaic developed a Gas Instrumentation and Regulation (I&R) curriculum.

Mosaic Offers a Solution

Mosaic leveraged our deep expertise and existing curriculum framework to create a two-tiered program that provides foundational and advanced knowledge to support I&R Technicians in their first two years within the role. The program is designed to be engaging and flexible to make learning memorable and quicken the path to competency.

The courseware includes a blend of:

  • Classroom training (hands-on practice, group activities, competition)
  • Self-paced learning (visual aids, 3D models)
  • On-the-job training (guided practice, field practice)

Specific courses/topics include:

  • I&R Fundamentals
  • Pressure Recording
  • Station Components
  • Regulator Stations
  • Gas Conditioning
  • Electric Recording Devices
  • And more advanced topics

The program is highly praised by instructors, supervisors, and students. It has become the standard for all gas and electric training at the utility.
