A major U.S. utility launched a multi-phase modernization of its Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) to upgrade the platform while preserving core capabilities such as SCADA, the network model, and advanced applications. The initiative included three projects, and the utility sought a single partner to deliver seamless system integration and ensure workforce readiness. Mosaic, already a trusted training partner, expanded its role to provide project-aligned training as part of each ADMS effort.
The first project, launched in early 2025, focuses on upgrading the ADMS while maintaining current functions, with go-live in October 2025. The second introduces Advanced Operations Management (AOM) capabilities—including OMS, Switching Management, and Field Client—replacing the current OMS and refining operational processes, targeting 2027. The third integrates a fire mitigation application to strengthen wildfire risk management.
Mosaic serves as the sole system integrator, delivering end-to-end integration from design through testing and deployment, while embedding workforce readiness throughout each project. For the ADMS upgrade, Mosaic preserves SCADA, the network model, and advanced applications, targeting October 2025 go-live. In the AOM project, Mosaic implements new functionalities, replaces the existing OMS, and refines processes to support the new tools, with a 2027 go-live.
The fire mitigation project follows a full-lifecycle approach, covering design, testing, and training to strengthen wildfire risk management. Across all projects, Mosaic ensures seamless system integration and equips employees to adopt and sustain new capabilities, creating a unified, modern ADMS environment that enhances operational resilience, improves outage and wildfire risk management, and accelerates realization of the platform’s benefits.
Mosaic’s integrated approach delivered a practical, future-ready foundation for the utility’s grid modernization:
