A large natural gas utility needed a way to demonstrate the actions of various not visible components in several different manufactured gas valves. Cutaways of the hardware work for hands-on instruction and to demonstrate how valves operate but seeing how natural gas flows through the valves helps gas technicians understand the importance and interconnection of each valveās components.
Mosaic worked with subject-matter experts, valve manufacturers, and classroom trainers to develop a highly interactive web-based valve animation that could be used as an interactive presentation tool in the classroom, a self-paced learning tool, and in the field as performance support. Each type of valve can be rotated, scaled, and examined in a browser. They can be cut away to show the valve’s inner workings at different gas flow levels.
